Beecarbonize at Apple Design Awards & its future

Our game is going places and we want to you to be there!

Hello!
Let’s get the first thing out of the way - yes, there has been long time no see and yes, our newsletter looks a bit different as we moved to Beehiiv. Don’t worry, all your data is still very much fine, but if you wish to no longer receive our infrequent does of big news about our games, the unsubscribe button is at the bottom.

Anyway!

Here’s a little something related to our recently released free climate card strategy Beecarbonize:

It is a photo of our CEO Lukáš taken during the Apple’s annual developer conference WWDC. If you squint, you can see the logo of our newest game Beecarbonize in the third row, second from the right. That is because Beecarbonize has been nominated for Apple Design Award!

In the end we did not win (our congratulations go to the foxy adventure Endling), but it still feels like a tremendous recognition for our humble climate card strategy game we made with People in Need. Lukáš is still on the plane, but he says that the conference was fun.

But I am sure you did not come here for just Apple news, although the largest part of Beecarbonize’s success is of course thanks to you - our players!

So, thank you so much for playing our game(s). 💜

With that in mind, we need to talk about the…

…future of Beecarbonize!

What started as a humble climate-oriented project has grown on us (and you!) quite a lot and considering the Apple award and other nominations (including BIG Festival in Brazil and Games For Change), we just knew we had to release an update.

What do you think about the new, changed colors?

We struck a chord with both casual and dedicated strategy players and with a free update that is coming out later this month, we want to do right by all of them. Why?

  • There will be strategy-based achievements to make the game more replayable and give those who mastered the systems new exciting goals,

  • Hardcore mode for those seeking more challenging gameplay,

  • There will be new cards, including a whole new victory path,

  • We will be updating the graphics with new illustrations, easier-to-read UI and other polishing touches,

  • more improvements across the board!

We will announce the exact date on our socials, but it is coming out in June, both on mobile and PC. We are thrilled and happy and be sure to follow our Twitter or Instagram for surprise drops of new illustrations, cards and features.

And we will of course send one more e-mail when the update releases so you don’t miss out.

Designer baby and some new achievements.

Tip time - The Wreck

We made a habit of recommending great games we are playing in the studio, and we will be following upon it here as well. This newsletter tip belongs to The Wreck by a great The Pixel Hunt studio (Bury Me, My Love and Inua). Interactive story about one decisive moment you can relive again and again is a meditation or family traumas, past mistakes, reconciling with your own past and how to move on. Sincere, executed in style, deserving your attention.

Check it out here.

And that’s a wrap. Thanks for sticking with us and talk to you soon.

Enjoy the start of summer!
