Meet our next game: Velvet 89! ✌️

Have you ever asked yourself: What if the Velvet Revolution was a hidden-object game?

In every project comes the lovely moment of finally being able to talk about it to everyone. And we have been looking forward to it very much with our new, latest game Velvet 89 that will be released in October 2024.

It’s twice a first for Charles Games – a hidden-object game (we just love Hidden Folks) and a game about the perhaps most significant topoic of our country’s history in the last 35 years: The Velvet Revolution!

Velvet 89 is a free game that will take you to the streets of several Czechoslovak cities, full of people who decided to speak up against an unjust regime – and a title attentive to some of the overlooked aspects of it all.

Made with our partners at People in Need – JSNS, it very deliberately centers on the ordinary stories of people like you and me who took to the squares in 1989, with no guarantee that things would go smoothly. The game is made on the basis of real testimonies, too.

The Steam page contains more info than this newsletter allows. But we put a lot of effort into a) making sure the history is represented in a nuanced and truthful manner and b) stylized visuals with a paper-like quality to them.
